Dr. Lewis has been active as an engineering geologist in Southern California since 1963 and has been a Registered Geologist and Certified Engineering Geologist in the State of California since 1972. He has been involved in a variety of projects over the years and has been affiliated with SPC Geotechnical, Inc. since 1994. Dr. Lewis has primarily worked throughout Southern California, and also in Northern California, Nevada, and Arizona.
Dr. Lewis has performed in-depth geological investigations from single-family residential sites to large mass-grading development projects. Much of Dr. Lewis' work has concentrated on hillside stability, seismic evaluation and fault trace by direct methods of investigation, such as detailed surface geologic mapping of bedding, faults, joints, and weakness planes; subsurface investigation by trenching and drilling, down-hole logging of bucket-auger borings, foundation investigations; and data analyses, usually in collaboration with a geotechnical engineer.
Dr. Lewis has a Bachelor of Science and a Master of science degree in Geology from the University of Kentucky and a Ph.D. degree in Structural Geology from the University of North Carolina..
Dr. Lewis is a Registered Geologist and a Registered Engineering Geologist with the State of California.
